1,476 m high into the Sierra Nevada Nature Park.
Here comes the second part of our serpentine tour:
We continue from Sopotujar (the witches’ village) to Trevelez (the ham village) – 28 km and what feels like 300 curves later, you come to the place that is known throughout Spain for its air-dried Iberian ham produced here.
This village is also suffering from population decline, and the almost 700 inhabitants now live mainly from ham tourism.
If you do the tour in winter and look towards the mountains, you will see the snow-capped peaks of the Sierra Nevada.
You quickly realize – a short-sleeved shirt is not the right clothing up here, even though the sun is shining.
Almost everyone treats themselves to a ham & or cheese platter – a must if you have meandered through the countryside this far.
