Welcome to Andalusia

Torrox Costa Promenade

Torrox-Costa, the popular vacation resort.

With just over 20,000 inhabitants, Torrox has now grown into a small town in the province of Málaga in Andalusia on the Costa del Sol.

Consisting of the districts of Torrox (Pueblo), Torrox-Costa and El Morche, this region is very popular with many retirees from other European countries.

In the 80s, Torrox was known as the “German stronghold”.

There are now only just under 2,800 Germans who live here permanently or spend the winter.

The proportion of British and French people is roughly the same.

But the Dutch, Belgians, Danes and even Swedes also spend their retirement or winter vacations here.

So you could say:

The whole of Europe has discovered this wonderful region for itself.

Why is Torrox Costa so popular?

Mejor Clima de Europa

This advertising slogan can be found everywhere here and it simply means that we have the mildest climate in Europe. Is that an exaggeration?

Certainly not, because the sun shines here around 300 days a year.

In summer, temperatures here can reach a maximum of 35°C and in some cases even 48°C. Due to the direct location by the sea, days with a light breeze are easy to endure. In winter, it is mostly around 19°C to 22°C, but the wind should not be underestimated. When the sun goes down, you will need a jacket or a fleece pullover. The temperature on winter nights very rarely reaches the single-digit (plus) range.

However, you should bear in mind that people build differently here in Spain.

Neither the high-rise buildings nor the bungalows have thermal insulation. In summer, the apartments are cooled by air conditioning. An additional gas stove is advisable in winter for those who freeze quickly.

Rule of thumb on the subject of temperatures:

Here in the Málaga region, it is on average always
approx. 15 degrees warmer than in Germany.

The construction of the “Faro” was completed on May 1, 1864.
It stands 39 meters above sea level and has a height of 26 meters.

It is the only lighthouse in Andalusia that is also open to the public – the Marine Museum can be visited free of charge.
