Pampaneira is located on the southern slope of the Sierra Nevada
in the Spanish province of Granada, at an altitude of around 1060 meters. The Moors and the Berbers have left their mark here. The irrigation system that flows through the steep mountain lanes is particularly noteworthy.
The village has won several awards for its townscape. When Pampaneira is mentioned, it is often referred to as the “chocolate village”. However, the main theme here is “weaving”. Colorful blankets, fabrics, carpets and wickerwork characterize the townscape. Every year in the fall, the region’s most important trade fair for arts and crafts, agriculture and tourism takes place here. Oh yes – of course every visitor to the town goes to the chocolate factory “Abuela ili Chocolate”. You can’t miss the aroma … … Chocolate in all shapes, sizes & colors. And then there is this attraction: opposite the church is the Fuente de San Antonio fountain, which is said to have miraculous effects: A bachelor who takes a sip of the fresh spring water will soon get married. This was the third place on the “Sierra Nevada Tour”.
