The tourist attraction Caminito del Rey
The first version of this trail was built between 1901 and 1905
and served as the supply route for the workers at the hydroelectric power plant Hidroeléctrica del Chorro.
The path gradually fell apart – and in the end was considered the most dangerous hiking trail in Europe.
The wooden and concrete path has been completely restored and is now well secured.
Since 2015, the use of the Caminito del Rey has been subject to a fee.
Admission per person 10.00 € – with bus transfer ticket = 11.55 €
On the website www.caminitodelrey.info you should book the tickets in good time.
Detailed descriptions of the hiking opportunities can be found on this website:
Guided tours are offered (duration 6 hours).
There is a lot to consider, the website gives detailed information.
From Malaga there is even a train connection to El Chorro-Álora station.
From there, a shuttle bus runs every hour.
Caminito del Rey (Narrow King’s Path), named after King Alfonso XIII. who inaugurated this climbing route in 1921.
The Caminito del Rey is a long-distance and not a circular hiking trail,
You should plan in advance which option you will choose to get back to the starting point.
The shuttle bus service runs between the northern entrance (Ardales) and the southern entrance (El Chorro, Álora), in both directions.
I got the spectacular photos from operators of Ecovilla Spain from Benajarafe,
who do this tour more often with their guests. Thank you very much!
