Acebuchal – the lost Village !

To be clear, this excursion is not for everyone!

Why ?
We head into the hinterland, up the mountain behind Frigiliana, narrow … very narrow roads, sharp bends, no road surface, no crash barriers – a horror for “anxious” co-drivers. PS: if you are traveling with a rental car, please read the small print in the rental contract, as some car rental companies prohibit driving on such roads. The Lost Village – Acebuchal, Frigiliana, Spain was evacuated by the Guardia Civil in 1948 because the “guerrillas” from the Spanish Civil War were suspected of being there. The 200 inhabitants had to leave the village, taking their belongings with them.

Since then it has been known as “Pueblo el Fantasmas” – the village of ghosts.

Fifty years later, in 1998, Antonio García Sánchez, son of one of the original villagers, returned with his family to restore a few houses in the village. Once these were completed, they rebuilt another five houses and the tavern, as more and more tourists rediscovered the village. This is also thanks to the new sign “The lost Village 1.7km”.
People are just curious.

And it has long since ceased to be an insider tip.

You should definitely have seen it at least once. There is now also a B&B hotel there – ideal for hiking enthusiasts to spend 2 days hiking in the area. The food in the taverna is unusual and of excellent quality. The homemade bread is highly recommended as an appetizer.
It is served with an oil mixture – simply delicious.
