Does Torrox have an old town ?

Torrox Costa has developed into a perfect holiday area since the end of the 70s,
with practical apartment blocks, but also with typical Andalusian buildings.
However, the old town of Torrox can only be described as the actual town of Torrox Pueblo.
The village is located 133 meters high and 4.0 km from the beach in the hinterland.
The narrow streets, the white houses show the Andalusia of yesteryear. Here, many things are still the same as they were back then.
The centerpiece is the Plaza de la Constitucion.
This is where people meet, where there are many bars, restaurants and the town hall of Torrox.
Throughout the year, large events take place here regularly. such as the Migas Fest.
Tens of thousands of guests from all over the region come to this event.
A bus shuttle service (ticket 1.00 €) is offered at almost all major events.
It takes at least 45 minutes on foot. But you should be reasonably fit.
If you want to go to the mountain village by bike, you can do so with an e-bike.
Therefore, every guest who is on holiday in Torrox Costa should take the time to visit Torrox Pueblo (our old town of Torrox).

Do many Germans live in Torrox Costa ?
In the 80s, Torrox was known as a “German stronghold”.
In the meantime, only just over 2,000 Germans are officially registered to live here permanently or spend the winter.
The proportion of Britons is about the same.
But Dutch, Belgians, French, Danes and even Swedes also spend their retirement or winter holidays here.
In Torrox, the official proportion of foreigners in the total population is 38.3 percent (as of 2024).

This slogan can be found everywhere here and it simply means that we have the mildest climate in Europe here.
Is that exaggerated ?
Certainly not, because the sun shines here around 300 days a year.
In summer, measurements are taken here up to a maximum of 35°C and in individual cases up to 48°C.
Due to the direct location by the sea, the days with a light breeze are easy to bear.
In winter it is mostly around 19°C to 22°C degrees, but the wind should not be underestimated.
When the sun goes down, you need a jacket or a fleece sweater.
The temperature on winter nights very rarely reaches the single-digit (plus) range.
However, you should bear in mind that people build differently here in Spain.
Neither the high-rise buildings nor the bungalows have thermal insulation.
In summer, the apartments are cooled by air conditioning.
Consequently, an additional gas stove is advisable in winter, for those who freeze quickly.
Rule of thumb on the subject of temperatures:
Here in the Málaga region, it is on average always

The Torrox lighthouse
Did you already know ?
The construction of the “Faro” was completed on May 1, 1864.
It stands 39 meters above sea level and has a height of 26 meters.
The now fully automatic signal light has a range of 20 nautical miles and emits four flashes of light every 15 seconds.
It is the only lighthouse in Andalusia that is also used by the public.
The Marine Museum can be visited free of charge.
